Firefighter

The District:
The River Delta Fire District is approximately 50 square miles and is located near Highway 12 and Highway 160 near Rio Vista and Isleton, CA. The district runs approximately 400 calls per year and is staffed with Volunteer Firefighters who are required to dedicate one 24-hour shift per week. The district encompasses the Delta Loop, which meanders along the Mokelumne River, San Joaquin River and Seven Mile Slough.  There are several boat harbors, restaurants, resorts and camp sites along the ten-mile stretch of the loop.  The area is a major summer destination to thousands of recreators. The district serves a population of 1,500 residents and during the summer months, the population significantly increases up to 10,000 during busy weekends. The River Delta Fire District offers career development opportunities for individuals pursuing a career in the fire service and has a successful reputation of mentoring Firefighters to meet their career goals through quality training and work experience.

The Position:
Under general supervision, performs the full array of duties assigned to Firefighters including but not limited to  fire suppression, emergency medical services, and fire prevention activities, participates in training exercises, studies new firefighter techniques, assists in the maintenance and care of all stations, apparatus, and equipment, and performs all other duties as assigned by officers of the fire department.

The Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate will be one who has recently graduated a CSFM accredited fire academy and wishes to complete their California State Firefighter I Task book and required experience hours. Individuals must be highly motivated. Your required to work (1) 24-hour shift per week and attend an orientation and a two-day academy.

Qualifications:
• Firefighter I Academy (accredited academy course completion required)
• California State EMT Certification
• BLS Provider (Health care provider CPR)
• Valid California Class C (or greater) Driver’s License Selection:
