The Glassy Mountain Fire Service Area in Greenville South Carolina is accepting applications for the position of Firefighter/EMT (Firefighter/AEMT/Paramedic preferred) for full and part time positions. Full time personnel work a 48-on/96-off schedule. Part time personnel fill vacant or open slots when full time personnel are off.EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
NREMT and South Carolina certification as an EMT; AEMT or Paramedic preferred. Current CPR certification; Current ACLS certification (Paramedic); Must meet South Carolina Firefighter II certification within 1 year of appointment; EVOC/CEVO/Emergency Vehicle Driving Training preferred; must obtain within 1 year of appointment; SC Driver’s License, (CDL preferred) Copies of certifications/license must be submitted with employment application.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: While performing the essential functions of this job some tasks involve the ability to exert very moderate physical effort in light work, typically involving some combination of sitting, standing and/or walking. Emergency tasks and training involve the performance of physically demanding work, which may involve some combination of running, climbing or jumping, and may involve the lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of moderately heavy and/or heavy objects, materials and/or persons (20-150 pounds). Must be able to wear protective clothing and equipment up to 60 pounds and work in extremely high temperatures and toxic atmospheres. In responding to critical incidents, the incumbent may be exposed to fire, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic substances, excessive noise, temperature extremes, and dampness/humidity. The incumbent may be exposed to possible bodily injury from falling from high, exposed places; moving mechanical parts of equipment, tools, and machinery.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Condition of hire: The successful candidate agrees to establish and maintain a professional image during employment with the GMFSA. Specifically the candidate agrees not to have body adornment (tattoos, decorative teeth, body piercing(s) except stud earrings for female employees, etc.) that are visible while wearing a department assigned/purchased uniform.
