GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
Under general supervision the purpose of this position is to protect life and property from fire or
fire related danger, provide emergency medical services, and operate/maintain fire vehicles and
apparatus. Employees in this classification perform skilled, protective work. Position is
responsible for extinguishing fires, rescuing persons and property from danger, operating fire
vehicles, and performing salvage and related follow-up work. Performs related work as
directed.
MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE :
High school diploma or GED; or other certificate of competency.
*SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS*
1.State of Florida Firefighter Certificate
2.EVOC Certification
3.State of Florida Driver’s License
4.State of Florida EMT Certification (within 3 months of date of hire)
5.State of Florida Paramedic Certification
6.Current AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support Card (ACLS)
7.Valid Broward Fire Academy County-Wide Physical Ability Test or equivalent (includes swim test)
