Job Description
| Protect life and property by performing entry-level firefighting, emergency aid, hazardous materials, and fire prevention duties. The incumbent works to obtain the necessary skills and knowledge required to become a Firefighter. |
Job Responsibilities
| 100% -Perform entry-level firefighting activities including: driving fire apparatus; operating pumps and related equipment; laying hose; and performing fire combat, containment, and extinguishment tasks. Perform emergency aid activities including rescue, administering emergency medical aid, and providing other assistance as required.
Operate radio and other communication equipment. Participate in the inspection of buildings, hydrants, and other structures in fire prevention programs. Make forcible entry when necessary and perform salvage operations such as throwing salvage covers, sweeping water, and removing debris. Maintain fire equipment, apparatus, and facilities.
Participate in fire drills and attend classes in firefighting, rescue-emergency medical, hazardous materials, and related subjects. Perform general maintenance work and minor repairs in the upkeep of fire facilities and equipment. Clean and wash walls and floors; care for grounds around station; wash, hang and dry hose; wash, clean, polish, maintain, and test apparatus and equipment. Perform other related duties as assigned. Punctuality and regular attendance is required.
The Entry Firefighter must maintain a certain level of physical and mental fitness and will be required to complete periodic benchmark assessments to ensure they can perform the essential functions of the job. Physical Requirements
| A Physical Agility Test will be completed after the written exam. Please wear or bring appropriate attire for this testing. Only candidates passing the written exam will be offered the Physical Agility Test.

Minimum Qualifications
Driver’s License: Valid Class C Texas Driver’s License, Must obtain a Texas Class B Drivers’ License within 60 days of hire.
Education: High School Diploma or GED
Experience: No experience required
Certifications: Texas Commission on Fire Protection Structural Certification- Basic and Texas Emergency Medical Technical- Basic Certification (**must be submitted by the application deadline in order to take the written entrance exam)
Testing: Entry-Level Fire Written Examination, Physical Agility Test
Application Special Instructions
All interested candidates must submit an online application no later than Friday, March 24, 2017 by 5:00 p.m. to be eligible to take the Firefighter entrance examination.
**Proof of identity with a valid driver’s license will be required in order to be admitted to the Examination. No late entry into the written test.
