Firefighter/EMT
$10.86/HR

Regular, full time position working 24hr shifts. This is technical work in the field of emergency response in the application of the prevention, control, and suppression of fire (both structural and non-structural); emergency medical care; and in response to natural and human-made disasters. Work is public safety oriented in the protection of life and property through the application of technical knowledge, skills, and abilities in the fields of fire science, hazardous materials management, building construction, and emergency medicine. Work is of a physical nature and involves an element of personal danger. Employees must be able to act without direct supervision and to exercise independent discretion in addressing emergency situations. Work assignments and instructions are received from a supervisor who reviews work methods and results through observation, reports and discussion. Incumbents perform essential functions as outlined herein according to location and functional assignment area. Performs related work as directed.

This position is responsible for responding to fires, or other emergency scenes, natural disasters or other critical incidents including, but not limited to, hazardous materials spills, hurricanes, automotive accidents, building collapses, civil disturbances, explosions, water incidents, and aircraft crashes. Works within a general outline of work to be performed, and develops work methods and sequences under general supervision.

REQUIREMENTS
? High School diploma or GED equivalency certification
? Must be a United States Citizen or resident alien
? Minimum eighteen (18) years of age
? Documentary proof of Certification as a State of Florida Firefighter II and Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or Paramedic by the State of Florida (preferred) is required
? Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification
? State Certified Pump Operator is preferred but not required
? Emergency Vehicle Operator Certification (EVOC) from an accredited certification institution is required
? Must have and maintain a current/valid Florida Driver’s License and satisfactory driving record as a condition of initial and continued employment
? Must not have any felony convictions
? Must not have any misdemeanor convictions involving perjury or false statements
? Tobacco Free: applicants must not have used tobacco products for a minimum of one year prior to the date of hire and will not be permitted to use tobacco products at any time, whether on or off duty
? Discharge from military under honorable conditions
? Successfully pass a background investigation
? Undergo a computer voice stress analysis test and satisfactorily complete a medical examination, including drug screen
? Applicants will be required to successfully complete a written exam, physical abilities testing, and medical scenario based testing

Citrus County requires both FireTEAM and a valid NTN CPAT through National Testing Network (NTN). Only CPAT from an NTN location will be accepted for this position.
