Requirements:
Education
High school diploma (or GED).
(Please attach a copy of your high school diploma or GED certificate to your employment application. Applications submitted without the required attachments will be considered incomplete.)
Experience
At least 1 year of relevant experience is required. Applicants may substitute additional relevant education for the required experience.
Other Qualifications
Oral and Written Communication: Must have the ability to actively listen to others for an understanding of their needs and situations; ability to speak English with sufficient clarity to be understood by others on the telephone, radio or in person. Must be able to read and understand written correspondence in various media forms.
Judgment: Must have the ability to prioritize situations and information effectively and make appropriate decisions based on the information received. Must have the ability to learn and apply new information; ability to handle multiple streams of information simultaneously; ability to remember numerous details.
Must acquire and maintain a working knowledge of public safety communications equipment, practices, and procedures including but not limited to: computer aided dispatch, radio, mapping, telephone, emergency protocols systems, and law enforcement networks.
Certifications, Licenses, Registrations
CPR, Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD), Emergency Fire Dispatch (EFD), Division of Criminal Information (DCI) and National Crime Information Center (NCIC) certifications are preferred. All certifications can also be obtained during training and are to be maintained throughout employment.
