Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications & Special Requirements: Age: Must be at least 18 years of age by the date of appointment Education: High school graduate or equivalent (GED) License and Driving Record: Must possess a valid California State Motor Vehicle Operator’s License by the date of appointment. Clean DMV record with no major violations (DUI, Hit and Run, etc.) for 36 months and no more than one minor violation during the last 12 months. Special Requirements: Must be continually enrolled in at least one Fire Science or EMS related class at an accredited college or university, or be enrolled in other pre-approved courses. Schedule: Reserve Firefighters must work a minimum of two, 24hr shifts per month with their assigned officer/shift. Physical: Must be in excellent physical condition having passed the California Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) within the past twelve months prior to appointment, and must also pass a city provided medical exam and drug test. Residency: Must reside within 50 air miles of Fire Station-11 Certification: Must possess a current CPR provider card at time of appointment. Must maintain a current CPR provider card. Completion of a Firefighter 1 Academy Completion of BLS level 1st Responder Medical Training Must possess a valid Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certificate within two years of appointment.
