Firefighter/Paramedic and Fire Recruit
The Town of Westlake, Texas is seeking Firefighter/Paramedics, Paramedics, and Firefighter/EMTs to fill current vacancies. Preference will be given to Firefighter/Paramedics.
JOB SUMMARY
Under the general supervision of the Shift Lieutenant, the Firefighter/Paramedic suppresses fires; performs rescues; removes or stabilizes hazards; provides emergency medical service including basic and/or advanced life support, and transports patients. Promotes and demonstrates all hazard safety programs.
Salary Fire Recruit: $16.39 per hour ($47,733 annually), plus a comprehensive benefits package. Firefighter/Paramedic: $17.21 – $26.03 per hour ($50,120 – $75,804 annually), depending on qualifications, plus a comprehensive benefits package.
REQUIREMENTS
- TCFP Firefighter and TXDSHS Paramedic, or
- TXDSHS Paramedic, or
- TCFP Firefighter and TXDSHS EMT, and
- Texas Class “C” or above drivers license with ability to obtain Class “B” within 6 months of hire
- Successful candidates must complete entrance examinations, interviews, physical examination, and drug screening.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must possess a valid High School diploma or GED
- Must be 19 years of age or older
- Must be legally able to work in the United States
- Must complete a criminal background check, with acceptable results as determined by the Town of Westlake
- Must successfully complete all pre-employment Fitness-for-Duty evaluations.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work is generally performed in non-climate controlled environments, with frequent exposure to outdoor weather and various hazardous conditions. Position may require standing, sitting, running, or walking for extended periods of time, crouching or crawling during emergency situations, lifting, carrying and pushing/pulling equipment and supplies weighing 75 pounds or more, stooping, and exposure to diverse emergency situations.
