The City of Circleville is accepting applications for the position of permanent part time Fire Fighter II/EMT-B. Applicants shall possess a Fire Fighter II certification and at least an EMT-Basic certification prior to appointment, a high school diploma or equivalent.  Applicants must also have possession of a valid Ohio drivers’ license and the ability to meet the City of Circleville’s requirements for insurability.

Applicants for this position must be a United States citizen for at least the past six (6) months and must be at least 18 years of age.  Applicants will be asked to complete physical agility test and an internal general knowledge test, both to be scheduled by the City of Circleville at a later date. A passing score of 70% on the general knowledge test is required to be considered for employment.  A medical examination and an extensive background investigation including successful completion of a Polygraph and Psychological Examination (all fees paid for by the City of Circleville) are also required prior to appointment.  Vision must be correctable to 20-20 vision with either glasses or contacts lenses of a safety type.

Permanent part time fire fighters are paid for hours actually worked, typically a 24 hour shift every 6th day not to exceed 120 hours per month.  Hourly rate for FF/EMT Basic is $10.00 per hour; FF/EMT Intermediate is $11.00 per hour and FF/EMT Paramedic is $12.00 per hour.

The original application must be returned to the Human Resources Department only for time-stamped filing.  Normal office hours are Monday thru Friday 7:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. The office is closed on major holidays.
