Description: FIREFIGHTER/EMT $35,635.85 annually which includes F.L.S.A. Typically shift work: 24 hours on/48 Hours off. FIREFIGHTER/PARAMEDIC salary is $37,735.77 annually which includes F.L.S.A. Once paramedic solo status is obtained, pay rate increases to $40,869.97 annually. Typically shift work: 24 hours on/48 hours off. Performs experienced protective service work controlling, extinguishing and preventing fires, and performing Life Support at emergency scenes. *** All applicants must not have been users of tobacco products for at least (1) year immediately preceding their application for employment as a firefighter with Brevard County Fire Rescue, and shall be required, as an absolute condition of continued employment, to refrain from smoking cigarettes, cigars, pipes, or use of any type of tobacco products of any kind at all times, whether on or off duty. Requirements: Paramedics must possess by job closing date and maintain a valid State of Florida approved certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support and certification as a State of Florida Paramedic. EMTs must possess by job closing date and maintain a valid State of Florida approved CPR Card and certification as a State of Florida EMT. Applicants must possess by job closing date and maintain Florida State Fire Fighter Certificate of Compliance or Letter of Completion from the State of Florida Bureau of Fire Standards and Training and a current and valid CPAT card from a recognized and licensed IAFF CPAT Training Center. ***Copies of all required certification and licenses must be presented at time of written test administration. *** Applicants will be required to take & pass a written test. Veterans of the United States Armed Forces, with an honorable discharge, entitled to Veteran’s Preference under Florida Statutes, Chapter 295, must submit their applicable DD214, valid military certification, and/ or military discharge papers to Human Resources PRIOR to the job close date. Veteran’s Preference points will be added to a passing written test score. Applicants must be able to successfully complete a criminal, driver’s license, and personal background investigation conducted by Brevard County or another agency. Applicants must be able to successfully complete a current NFPA 1582 compliant physical exam & be found Fit for Duty under those guidelines. *** Written test will be held on February 6, 2017.
