The Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA) is recruiting to create an eligibility list for future Hand Crew Firefighter vacancies. Only applicants meeting the minimum qualifications may be invited to proceed in the interview process.
CLASS SUMMARY: DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS: The Hand Crew Firefighter Program consists of 2 squads of 11 members each and is operational 7 days per week, 10 hours per day, year round. Crews work a 4/10 work schedule, Monday-Wednesday plus every other weekend or Wednesday-Friday, plus every other weekend. |

This classification is subject to enrollment in the California DMV Pull Notice Program, which periodically provides Risk Management with the incumbent’s Driver License record and status. HIGHLY DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Positions in this class typically require: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, driving, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions. Very Heavy Work: Exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, vibrations, fumes, odors, dusts, gases, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, work space restrictions, intense noises and travel.
