Career Firefighter/Paramedic
The Countryside Fire Protection District Board of Commissioners is responsible for establishing an eligibility list to fill potential full-time, career firefighter/paramedic openings. At this time, Countryside Fire Protection District is currently accepting applications for the position of firefighter. Applications are available at recruitment.iosolutions.com until October 21, 2016. The application deadline is October 21, 2016 at 2 p.m. You must meet the following

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• $35 nonrefundable application fee;
• US Citizen;
• High School Diploma or equivalent (GED);
• Possess valid driver’s license, which must be shown as ID at all phases of testing;
• Minimum age of 21 by October 21, 2016, and less than 35; unless applicant falls under one of the statutory exceptions;
• Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) with Ladder Climb card conducted by a licensed agency within 12 months prior to the application due date (10/21/2016).

• Illinois OSFM certified Firefighter II or Basic Operations Firefighter;
• Illinois Licensed EMT-B at time of application (EMT-P required to be considered for hiring from eligibility list);
• Submission of “Documentation and Credentials Form” and “Countryside Fire Protection District Background Authorization Form.” (Background Authorization Form MUST be notarized);
• Great moral character, excellent health and meeting all requirements of the Board of Commissioners of Countryside Fire Protection District and State of Illinois.

You are required to arrive at the orientation location no later than 7:00 p.m. with photo identification to sign-in. Doors will open for sign-in at 6:15 p.m. and the orientation will begin promptly at 7:00 p.m. NO LATE ADMITTANCE.

Written Exam

You are required to arrive at the testing location no later than 9:00 a.m. with photo identification (valid driver’s license or State ID) to sign-in. NO LATE ADMITTANCE. Doors will open for sign-in at 8:30 a.m. and the testing will begin promptly at 9:00 a.m.

The initial testing process will consist of two primary components: a traditional firefighter examination and a situational judgment test. Both will be administered in a paper-and-pencil format. The firefighter exam will assess job-related cognitive abilities, personality characteristics and behavioral traits. The situational judgment test will assess job-related skills associated with interpersonal and problem-solving interactions similar to those you may have on the job. You do not need to have any firefighter experience, training or knowledge to successfully complete these tests. The firefighter exam will be weighted at 60% and the situational judgment test will be weighted at 40%. An orientation will be provided on Tuesday, October 15, 2016 to provide further information regarding the testing process.
