Requirements:

The Telecommunicator position coordinates Police, Fire, and Emergency Medical Services for emergency and non-emergency calls for service. The ideal candidate must be able to efficiently and accurately operate computer-aided dispatch software in conjunction with the radio system to dispatch information to public safety personnel while constantly monitoring and maintaining contact with field units and relay instructions to the closest and most suitable unit available. Telecommunicators are required to work a variety of schedules in a 24-hour, 7 day a week Communications Center which includes nights, weekends, and holidays. Primary duties include answering incoming, multiline Emergency 911 and non-emergency telephone calls and delivering lifesaving medical instructions when needed. Telecommunicators are considered essential personal that must work through emergency situations including hurricanes and other natural and man-made disasters. The selected candidate must have a High School diploma or equivalent; possess a valid Texas Driver’s License; and be able to pass a pre-employment physical, drug and alcohol screening, a criminal background check, and a CritiCall 911 Public Safety Call-Taker computerized test.
