FPSI’s Test Preparation Manual (TPM) 11th Edition

DO NOT attempt to prepare for your exam with any other editions of our TPM–The 11th Edition TPM is required for the Central Pierce Fire & Rescue Firefighter Exam.

The entry-level firefighter written test consists of two components: a reading ability component and a human relations component. The 11th Edition Test Preparation Manual (TPM) is a reading comprehension test and consists of five chapters describing information needed to prepare for this test. Candidates study this Manual for 3-to-5-weeks and then take a multiple-choice test measuring their retention of the material in the Manual. The reading ability component will account for 73% of the total written test weight. All of the test items in the reading ability component will come directly from the 11th Ed. Test Preparation Manual. Additionally, the human relations component will account for 27% of the total test weight (e.g., interpersonal skills, teamwork, commitment, honesty, integrity, emotional stability, etc.). There is no study manual for the human relations component of this test.  Given that 73% of the total test weight will be measured by items taken directly from the TPM, the more familiar the candidate is with the TPM, the higher their score will be on the test.  Purchase of the 11th Edition TPM is strongly advised!!

***The 2017 Firefighter Written Testing Process now includes free access to a written test training video and the TPM-HR Practice Test!  You do not need to purchase the TPM-HR Practice Test this year as it will be provided to you for free!***

The TPM portion of the Practice Test is intended to measure the candidates’ reading ability skills only. The answer key for the TPM Practice Test is also included.
