Fauquier County Fire Rescue is currently recruiting candidates for an accelerated “Lateral Academy” –
which could give you higher pay and service credit based on your previous experience as a Firefighter/Medic.

Salary commensurate with experience.

To be considered for the Lateral Academy program you must possess the following:
*FIREFIGHTING EXPERIENCE-minimum of 2 consecutive years with a career department
and completed a comprehensive firefighter recruit training program that is equivalent
to the Fauquier Fire Rescue Recruit School or 5 years with a career department.
*NATIONAL PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS FIRE FIGHTER II Certification (VA VDFP or equivalent preferred)
*CURRENT CPR CARD and a minimum current certification from the VA Office of Emergency Medical Services at one
of the following levels: EMT-B, EMT, EMT-E, AEMT, EMT-I, or EMT-P.
*DRIVER-PUMP operator certification (VA VDFP or equivalent preferred)
