Our Story
In 1979 I went to work for the Los Angeles County Fire Department, working on an Air-Attack hand crew assigned to Camp 9-2. While working with 30 other young aspiring firefighters, I developed a system to contact different fire departments to get the recruitment information we needed to take firefighter tests. I became the "firefighter test information guy" in camp. After a couple of years of testing, I landed a firecareer with Oxnard Calif. Fire Dept. I started my city fire career in October 1981 and just retired March 3, 2009.
I wasn't on the job very long before I started getting calls from all the guys at Camp 9, wanting to know who was accepting applications for firefighter. At this point my wife and I thought we might be able to start a service that would work as if I were still looking for a Firecareer, and in the process, save the entry level candidate a ton of time and money. Armed with an idea and a typewriter we started collecting firefighter recruitment information for our subscribers.
Twenty-nine years later we are still, providing recruitment information for a Nation of aspiring firefighters and those advancing their Firecareers. As a side note we are also celebrating our 14th year on the Internet.
The name of the company came from our initials. (P)am, (C)raig, (F)reeman, or simply PFC. From PFC came Perfect Firefighter Candidate. As we moved on to the web, we named our web site Firecareers. We felt that Firecareers was fitting, being that this is what it's all about.... Securing a career in the fire service.
Our staff has continued to grow and we now have a complete staff serving your needs. Our office manager Marcie Albertsen started with the company 1998. Administrative assistant Jennifer Lopez has been with us since 2003. Also, administrative assistant Nicole Salem who joined our staff in 2007. They are tasked with the most important aspects of our company, they do all the research to find you a FIRECAREER.
